Special lunch session August 22

Special lunch session August 22

The Nordic randomized Occlusion-AF trial – LAAO vs NOAC for secondary stroke prevention

An investigator-initiated trial to test left atrial appendage occlusion versus NOAC for secondary stroke prevention in AF.

The lunch-session will cover the current rationale and evidence behind left atrial appendage occlusion, along with the trial organization, design and current status. The session is targeted stroke physicians and nurses with an interest in the field of AF-related stroke prevention, along with current study investigators. It will provide a possibility to learn more about LAAO from the perspective of both a cardiologist and neurologist, and to learn about the investigator-driven Nordic collaborative Occlusion-AF trial and hopefully join the collaborative network currently enrolling patients. Program shortly:

– LAAO as secondary stroke prevention in AF; a cardiologists perspective (Kasper Korsholm, Associate Professor, MD, PhD, Department of Cardiology, Aarhus University Hospital)

– The Nordic randomized Occlusion-AF trial; LAAO vs NOAC for secondary stroke prevention in AF (Kasper Korsholm, Ass. Professor, MD, PhD, Dept. of Cardiology, Aarhus University Hospital & Dorte Damgaard, MD, PhD, Dept. of Neurology, Aarhus University Hospital)
